The Finnish Defence Forces encourage military reservists to acquire their own military clothing and gear. To make this easier, we collected all our reservist-appropriate stuff in this group.

What’s this all about?

Finland has updated the equipment list on the reservists’ call-up cards in light of the war in Ukraine. Now the Finnish military encourages and allows reservists to use their own clothing and gear much more than before. This is a good thing, because your own gear is, after all, your own gear.

What to bring along for reservist activities?

Previously, the list consisted mainly of clothes, personal hygiene products, and camping gear. Now the list is a lot longer. However, this does not mean you need to own everything on the gear list, nor does it mean the Finnish Defence Forces no longer provide issued equipment. It simply means that if a reservist already has suitable personal gear (including guns!), they are allowed – and encouraged – to bring it along, so they can use equipment that is familiar and fits them properly.
