Modern people have all sorts of sleeping bags and other high tech hiking gear, which is pretty nice. It wasn't long ago when our fathers skied everywhere in both winter and summer, used tarps, ate pine bark, and wrapped themselves in blankets. This is how tough guys still do it. Get yourself a proper army surplus blanket and go where the ancient trail takes you. Us not so tough people can also find plenty of good uses for these.

Wool blanket is a versatile thing

A proper blanket is the chameleon of the textile world: it can become pretty much anything. Heavy as hell, takes all the space, and not nearly as warm as the sleeping bag. Therefore it is fantastic for traditional bushcrafting, as long as it is thick enough or if you use two together. Our ancestors were freezing with these, too, bloody hell! In Arctic winter you’ll need to have a fire, otherwise, you’ll meet your maker in one of these. If you’re not allowed to make a fire in the area or cut twigs for your bed, stick with a sleeping bag and a sleeping pad.

In case you’re not interested in historical bushcrafting, these are pretty nice on the couch too. Curl up with your dog or cat (even a spouse or an imaginary friend will do), open a can of Scho-Ka Kola and the evening at home with your warm blanket can be quite nice.

Or are you into handicrafts? You can make a million things out of these blankets. Nice bags, a cool shirt or a kickass caveman thong. You won’t meet similar ones in the streets. Unless you buy all of these and start a business. The national economy will thank you and nature will be happy. The materials are what they are. Some have lots of wool, some a lot less. The product description will tell you as much as we know.

Duvet covers in camo of course

Is there anything sweeter than slipping under a blanket for a nap? You bet your ass there is. If the blanket has a snow camo duvet cover!! If the enemy drone comes buzzing in through your window, you will be a lot better hidden under one of these. And you gotta admit that this pattern is awesome. These also include a cover for your pillow to keep your head camouflaged as well. We will have these until we won’t.
