Materials

The handle is made from Terralene HDPE elastomer, which is 100% recyclable and BPA-free. The material is 96% bioplastic made of sugar cane and wood pulp; Bonsucro, ISCC, and PEFC certified.

 The rod is made from a magnesium alloy that goes by the name ferrocerium.

The best thing about fire steel is its extreme reliability: no matter how wet or cold, the ferrocerium/magnesium alloy rod will still strike sparks. Birchbark and other well-prepared tinder is easy to light on fire with the strong and hot sparks from the Swedish Firesteel.
