Varusteleka is a specialist retailer of military and outdoor clothing and gear, serving customers worldwide through the webshop and the Helsinki-based store. Our mission is to equip the good guys with the best possible gear, made to perform well in the harsh conditions of the north.
Why are we looking for a Production Manager?
Our own production accounts for about 60% of our turnover, making it our most strategically important product area. We are looking for a Production Manager to strengthen our production capabilities and to ensure that our products are manufactured in the right factories, at the right time, and at the right price.
With your help, we want to improve delivery reliability, ensure the suitability of our production partners, and further develop our production processes.
Your responsibilities are:
- Scouting for and evaluating new factories
- Evaluating, auditing, and developing the current factories
- Managing production agreements and monitoring terms and conditions
- Managing the pricing of new products
- Launching the production of new products
- Implementing factory changes
In this job, you will report to Varusteleka's Director of procurement and product design and work as part of a nine-person procurement team. Your closest comrades in arms will be our Product Manager, our designers, and our buyer. You will have 20-50 close and long-distance recon mission days in Finland and Europe per year, mainly factory visits and trade fairs. The position is full-time and valid until further notice.
What do we expect?
This role is only for seasoned professionals in textile production. The Production Manager plays a key role in our operations and is the top expert in our production. You have:
- Extensive, multi-year experience in textile production and collaborating with factories
- Deep knowledge of European production opportunities
- Material expertise and understanding of production techniques and processes
- Degree in a relevant field
- Fluent English skills (other languages may also be beneficial, except Klingon)
