Varusteleka’s Remote Military March is back for the sixth time! Mark your calendar, pack your ruck, and get ready to march!

Created in 2020 as a Covid-safe substitute to the canceled South Karelia Military March, this event has become a popular international challenge that keeps you moving and mission-ready.

Marching orders
When and where
Friday, April 25 - Sunday, April 27, 2024, at a place of your own choosing.
Marching distances:
25 km or 50 km (15.6 or 31.1 miles) (except for the Family division). The route is up to you but should include both paved and unpaved roads.
Divisions:
- Open: Your choice of clothing and shoes, at least 10 kg / 22 lbs rucksack from start to finish
- Military: Combat uniform (no matter which pattern, you can mix & match), boots that cover the ankle, at least 10 kg / 22 lbs rucksack from start to finish
- Recon: Minimum requirements as in the Military Division. In addition, you must spend the night outside (under a tarp, in a tent or hammock, or something along these lines) and march back during the following day. The marching distances can be chosen from the available ones below, for example, 50 + 50 clicks. ATTENTION! Please be aware of your own performance level and health. If you are unsure or do not have the experience required, do not take on this challenge.
- Family: Take the juniors with you and march a distance of your choosing (min. 1 km / 0.62 miles). Since when marching with little ones sometimes requires you to carry not only your backpack but also your companion, there is no minimum requirement for the wight of the rucksack in this division. Your choice of clothing and shoes.
Participation is free. You can sign up by filling out the form below. If you sign up, we will send you a diploma and a discount code for the March patch 2025.
After signing up, it’s quite simple: march your preferred route, post some images on social media with the hashtags #vrmm2025, #varusteleka, and @varusteleka, and enjoy! Remember to stock up on some after-march drinks and snacks.
FAQ
What if I don’t have a Facebook or Instagram account?
That’s fine! Posting on social media is not a requirement for taking part in the march, it’s just a way for us to spread the word. All you really need to take part is a working email address.
How will I get my patch?
Patches will be available in our webstore after the march. You will get a discount code for the patch by email.
Can I buy badges for the whole group?
Yes, you can.
Can I order other items together with the patch?
Sure thing, just like you would normally do.
What is the price of shipping?
The shipping cost will be shown at check-out once you’ve added the items and the delivery country.
I can’t march on those exact dates, so can I still take part?
We wanted this to be an event we all do together simultaneously, but we also understand that sometimes life happens. If you can’t march during the exact dates of the Remote Military March, just choose a fitting time as close as possible and get walking! What’s most important is that you do it.

Why do I have to pay for the patch?
We are a business, and we have to make money. Participation is free, but by setting a rather reasonable price for the patch, we can offset some of the costs that come from arranging this event.
Help! I didn’t remember to sign up in time - can I still get the patch?
Yes, you can. The patch will be available to anyone in our webstore after the march.
