When you slap one of these awesome morale patches on your sleeve, backpack, or baseball cap, your morale will definitely get a nice boost. Originally a military thing but also perfectly suited for lifting your spirits on the battlefields of everyday life. Quick and easy to attach with hook and loop.

History

Morale patches are often colorful patches worn mostly on the sleeve, containing a humorous image and/or slogan. Their history is closely tied to the military world. Throughout the ages, troops have had the desire to differentiate themselves from the enemy for obvious reasons. Prior to WWI, the British army had identifiers that they called battle patches. However, the actual morale-boosting patches were born during World War I in the USA. Style-wise morale patches have always had a very strong connection with airplane nose art.

From the military, the moral patch concept spread to law enforcement agencies and also to civilian use. Metalheads and punk rockers have been really embracing this idea, and the denim vests of the heavy metal crowd covered in patches were the fashion item number one in the 80s. However, nowadays you can see these on all sorts of people. Which is nice, because they do add some color and personal touch to your outfit.

Use

These velcro patches are easy to use. You can slap these hook thingies on anything that has a suitable loop surface. No need to prick yourself with a needle or ask your mom to sew the patches on for you. You can also switch the patches as often as you like without having a nervous breakdown.

We have quite a bunch of morale patch friendly products. Check out, for example, these popular ones Särmä Merino Wool Hoodie and Särmä Large Assault Pack.

It is an excellent idea to wear a reflector when it gets dark since a collision with a motor vehicle can ruin your whole day. Thankfully, there’s a pretty simple way to prevent that high-speed love tap with that big hunk of metal coming your way. Hang some reflectors from you, and you will be visible to oncoming cars even in pitch-black darkness. A little effort and a small sum of money will go a long way in preventing a big misfortune from happening.

You should always carry more than one officially approved reflector that fulfills the EN 13356 standard. Also, when it comes to reflectors, one is better than zero, but you should carry a bunch of these. It’s best to purchase at least two and hang them from your arm and at knee height.

different styles

If you’re looking for Finnish design reflectors, we have certified reflectors in different shapes designed in-house, with new ones added from time to time. Those outdoorsy folks wishing to channel their enthusiasm for nature will probably enjoy our camping and animal-themed reflectors. If you don’t find your totem animal from our line of animal-shaped reflectors, you can opt for a cozy hand grenade or something else from our military-themed reflectors. In the Finnish Defence Forces, there is a game loved by all recruits called “who can carry the most at-mines?” You can now try a similar activity by seeing how many of our mine-shaped reflectors you can hang from your coat. Unfortunately, you’ll have to imagine the sweat and tears yourself.

just slap it on

Those who dislike traditional dangly reflectors should check out the Estecs slap wraps. They come in yellow and white and are easy to slap on to any body part (yes, even there, although it won’t be visible unless you wear nothing down there like a certain cartoon duck). It is a good idea to carry a couple of these in your pack or pocket and slap them on once the sun starts going down. If you’re squeamish about wearing reflectors or just don’t feel like they fit your style, then you can attach a hook & loop reflective patch to any suitable surface. Many of our clothes and jackets have a loop side patch on the arm and many backpacks do as well. These patches are not official reflectors as they don’t fulfill the safety standards but are still a whole lot better than nothing. Our suggestion is that you use them in conjunction with official reflectors.
