Winter Combat & Survival

A proper winter operator needs skills and proper winter gear – no compromises

Winter does not stop war – it slows it down and changes its nature. Snow and sub-zero temperatures become a second enemy to poorly trained and equipped forces. For hardened troops, harsh conditions are an ally.

Maintaining combat effectiveness requires discipline in both methods and equipment: how to move without excessive sweating, how to stay still without freezing, and how to keep your hands, feet, and head working. In the cold, mistakes gut-punch you immediately. Wet clothing, poor layering, excess gear, and sloppy routines turn into frostbite, lost capability, and casualties.

Winter favors the prepared and punishes the careless – and at northern latitudes, winter is not an exception. It is a recurring season you either adapt to, or you fail to adapt and pay the price.

This jacket is based on our L4 Field Jacket, with all the details refined purely for winter warfare. Note that this is not a padded winter parka – layering and proper over-garments are still important. However, the field-jacket-like features make this jacket practical to use with all sorts of combat and load-bearing gear.

L5 Thermal Patrol Coverall

In a nutshell, what we aimed for was a thermal garment that can be quickly put on without first fiddling with your helmet, communication devices, and other combat gear. The coverall should keep the fighter warm, functional, and ready to fight. Our version should also be as light and compact as possible – without compromising on thermal properties.
