Here you can find our rain ponchos and rain capes. They are surprisingly multi-functional garments and can be packed in a tiny space. A rain poncho is normally lighter than a rain jacket or a wet weather suit, which is obviously a significant factor for weight-conscious hikers.

It probably goes without saying that our selection of rain capes includes brand new clothes and army surplus rain ponchos. They come in solid colors and camo patterns, even in orange in case you want to stand out in the dark. Pretty smart for city cycling or walking a dog on narrow roads. You can also jerrybuild small shelters if the rain poncho has grommets around the edges.

You'll be hard-pressed to find a more versatile piece of rain gear than a rain poncho. Hikers can easily wear it over a rucksack, or the front can be thrown over your arms and handlebar to protect even the legs when cycling. The open bottom makes rain ponchos very well ventilated, and these are not sweat-sacks.

From rain poncho to a tarp

Rain ponchos catch wind quite easily, so fastening the sides correctly is a valuable skill to learn. There are articulated and form-fitted ponchos, but they lack a vital magic feature of army-style variants: you can use a rain poncho as a lean-to.

Extended arms are exposed to the weather, so it does matter what you have underneath, but all in all rain ponchos are a comfortable and functional choice for most wet situations.
