Varusteleka was founded in Helsinki, Finland in 2003. We're a Finnish tactical, military and outdoor clothing and equipment company with customers around the world.
What does Varusteleka mean?
Finnish is a complicated language. 'Varusteleka' is actually two words combined into one. 'Varuste' means 'equipment' or 'gear' and 'leka' has a few meanings depending on the intent of the word or the sentence. Here, it means 'sledge hammer'. So, the literal translation is 'equipment sledge hammer'. We just think it means really great gear.
What is Varusteleka known for?
We're known for functional tactical clothing, military gear, merino wool clothing, outdoor equipment and no-nonsense Finnish design. Our products are developed around practical use, durability and performance in demanding conditions.
Is Varusteleka gear used by the military?
By and large, conscripts are issued equipment they must use for their time serving. Active reservists and the professional cadre have more discretion and can purchase equipment to use. Lots of them choose our stuff.
