Photographer Johanna Kare's MUISTAKAA – heille kallis ol’ maa exhibition at Varusteleka. The exhibition features two-meter-tall portraits and stories of Finnish war veterans who are around 100 years old.

The exhibition aims to inspire understanding and gratitude for the price veterans paid for our independence and to offer a poignant reminder of the critical moments in our history. Kare dressed the veterans in Varusteleka’s modern combat clothing and gear during the photoshoots. Sadly, several of the veterans featured in the exhibition have since passed away.

You can visit the exhibition at the Varusteleka brick-and-mortar store in Helsinki until April 28, 2025.

Exhibition opening

We will celebrate the exhibition’s opening on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 6 PM onwards at Varusteleka. The artist herself will be present to share the stories behind the works, and we will also hear a greeting from Varusteleka.
